Books I Might Have DNFed too Quickly

Giving up on books isn’t my thing, but sometimes I get impatient and treat books like trash 😛 Here are 6 books I might have DNFd a bit too early. But I do have my reasons and most of these books won’t make it to my TBR ever again.

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi: I know you might be wondering why this book is on my list, but let me give you my reasons. This is a book that put me into a slump that lasted for almost a month. I think that was due to the complex world-building because too many details and my brain short circuits.

The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli: I haven’t read YA for so long, and that is mostly because the reader part of me is undergoing this translation where I wanna read a lot of literary and historical fiction, a shit load of fantasy, a bit of Romance and a couple of classics. I have kept this book for the time I wanna go back to simple and easy.

The Power by Naomi Alderman: Yeah, this is because I couldn’t deal with women using their ‘power’ for nagging and creating useless drama. But hey, that’s my take and it has nothing to do with the feminist side of me. I think I DNFd it a bit quickly only because of the rave reviews and all those praises. Otherwise, no regrets.

Uncommon Type by Tom Hanks: Okay, so I didn’t actually DNF it but I hopped from one story to another like a moody, choosy and noisy sparrow. I might have not given each story enough time to explain to me that they mean something more than their first paragraphs. But I did love a couple of stories, and these were the ones that captured me right from the first sentence.

The Taxidermist’s Daughter by Kate Mosse: I really wanted to like this book. Kate Mosse has a characteristic atmospheric and dark writing that always captures my attention. But most of this book was boring. Which is why I will be listening to the Audiobook as soon as I can, so that I know whether it was truly disappointing or not.

The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer: Not a huge fan of Stephenie Meyer but the blurb captured my attention and so did the first couple of pages. And then I lost interest. This is a huge book and I should have read a couple more chapters, but well, it was all so slow and boring.
